Hello, my name is Kristin! I graduated from HMS School in Philadelphia, PA. I like art, music and nature. I also love to meet and interact with new people!

I am excited to continue my growth as a person so that I can be more independent and contribute to my community.

• Graduated from the HMS School.

• Completed the STARS (Special Needs Tracking and Awareness Response System) Program at Penn State Berks through Abilities in Motion. This program provides soft skills training and job shadowing opportunities.

• Assisted at a thrift store by organizing, folding and hanging up clothes

• Advocated at Tech OWL as a Assistive Technology Champion. The role consisted of meeting with Tech OWL staff to chat about local projects and other resources for individuals with IDD.

STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS

• When learning a new task, I usually do best with visual demonstrations or the use of technology.
• Having someone I trust to provide support and help answer questions is very important to me.
• I work best with a schedule and expectations clearly laid out for me.
• While I work, I like to listen to music.
• Check-ins help me to monitor the progress towards my goals and team goals.
• I am strong in roles that allow for my creativity to come through in my words or art.
• I like to share how I am feeling and what I am thinking, it is helpful to have a defined place or time to share thoughts.

• I love listening to a variety of music. Luke Bryan is one of my favorite artists.
• I like getting to know new people, as well as checking in on old friends.
• I enjoy going shopping and going out to eat with friends.
• I love making people laugh.
• I like to spend time in nature on walks.
• Participating in and leading art projects is very enjoyable for me.
