Inclusive Volunteering
WHO THIS IS FOR
The Sleeping Mat Project brings together individuals and groups of all ages and abilities to create sleeping mats from recycled plastic bags for people experiencing homelessness.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Using recycled plastic bags, volunteers transform waste into durable, insulated mats that provide comfort and warmth. Each mat requires 700-800 bags, helping both the environment and those in need. Hosted at the IFG Hub, this program fosters a supportive and engaging environment where volunteers can build meaningful connections, develop new skills, and make a tangible impact in their community. Whether cutting, weaving, or assembling, every participant plays a vital role in turning plastic waste into a resource for positive change.
